Narrative:
From April 24 to May 13, 2015, and again from June 20 to June 30, 2015, a Taliban offensive aimed at advancing toward Kunduz City resulted in 176 civilian casualties (36 deaths and 140 injuries). During these two periods of fighting, approximately 30,000 individuals were displaced from their homes.
Both Taliban forces and pro-government forces employed indirect and indiscriminate weapon systems, including mortars, rockets, and grenades. The Afghan National Army also occupied at least four school buildings during the conflict.
According to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) assessment, pro-government forces were responsible for 64% of the civilian casualties, while Anti-Government Elements caused 21%. The remaining 15% of casualties resulted from crossfire between the opposing forces.
