- Summary
On August 3, 2018, a Shia Mosque named Khaja Hassan Grand Mosque in the Baland Manzil area of Gardiz City, Paktia Province, was attacked. Two armed assailants entered the mosque during prayer time and initiated gunfire before detonating explosive vests among approximately 500 worshipers. The attack resulted in the death of at least 39 individuals and left around 80 others injured. Despite the significant casualties, no group or individual claimed responsibility for the assault.
