Narrative:
On April 4, 2015, Taliban forces attacked Afghanistan security forces checkpoints in civilian-populated areas of Pusht Rod District, Farah Province. The attackers used mortars, rockets, and heavy machine guns. The Taliban attack resulted in the deaths of four civilians, including two women and one girl, and injured three others (one woman and two girls).
In response to the attack, the Afghan National Army deployed a helicopter to support their forces. According to UNAMA findings, the ANA helicopter opened fire in a civilian-populated area, resulting in injuries to five civilians, including three children.
During the same operation, while searching homes in the area, Taliban forces identified and executed a Mullah whom they accused of supporting the government. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on the checkpoints but attributed the civilian casualties to the ANA helicopter operation.
