Summary

On 24 January 2020, a 12-year-old girl was killed by Afghan soldiers in Shah Wali Kot District, Kandahar Province. The following day, when her father carried her body to the gates of the army base in the village, he was also killed by soldiers, according to officials. When relatives went to the base to protest and seek an explanation for the killings, soldiers opened fire on them, wounding the girl's uncle. The government appointed a delegation to investigate the incident.
