- Summary
On June 10, 2015, Taliban forces attacked Afghan national security forces checkpoints in the Hisarak District administrative center in Nangarhar Province. The attackers reportedly fired between 80 and 100 mortar rounds during the assault. Several of these mortars impacted residential areas of the district center, killing two civilians (a husband and wife) and injuring twenty-three others, including eight children. The attack also caused damage to civilian homes, a school, and government premises. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on their website.
