- Summary
On September 12, 2015, Taliban fighters executed a man and a woman by stoning in Kata Qala of Sozma Qala district, Sar-e Pol Province. The execution was carried out based on a decision by a Taliban "desert court" that found the couple guilty of adultery. The victims, who reportedly may have had children, were kidnapped three days prior to their execution. The stoning was conducted publicly.
