- Summary
On September 5, 2015, a minibus traveling from Mazar-e-Sharif to Zari district was intercepted by armed militants disguised in Afghan police uniforms. The assailants identified 13 Hazara passengers based on their ethnic and religious backgrounds and forcibly separated them from the others. The Hazaras were then subjected to torture solely because of their ethnicity and Shia religious identity. Subsequently, all thirteen individuals were fatally shot by the militants, who fled the scene, leaving the bodies unattended. No group or organization has claimed responsibility for this act.
