The detentions occurred across several villages: 4 individuals from Sang Shanda, 4 from Daimirdad, 4 from Bad Asia/Asiab, and 2 from Koh Birun. Local sources report that the detainees were accused of collaborating with Abdul Ghani Alipour, a Hazara militia commander who resisted the Taliban in Hazara-populated areas of Maidan Wardak Province, and of possessing weapons. Dawud, a resident of Hesa-e-Dowom Behsud, alleges that some individuals sympathetic to the Taliban provided lists of local residents to the authorities, leading to house searches and arrests. In one instance, Dawud claims that a list of 13 of his relatives was given to the Taliban, accusing them of collaborating with Alipour, despite them being ordinary residents of the area.
