On April 21, 2022, Mohammad Mobalighzadeh, agent of National Directorate of Security in Lal and Sarjangal districts of Ghor province, was arrested by the Taliban in Jabril town of Herat. Sources report that the Taliban severely tortured him on charges of possessing government weapons, causing blood to flow from his mouth due to the torture. Sarwar Sahil, a former soldier, stated that the Taliban released Mobalighzadeh after extorting 500,000 Afghanis. Following his release, Mobalighzadeh fled the country and sought refuge in Iran.
