On August 4, 2017, Afghan security forces conducted a clearing operation in the Alwazir, Doghabad, and Jummah Kala areas of Pul-i-Alam district. The governor's spokesman reported that six militants were killed and three civilians were injured during the operation. However, conflicting accounts emerged: an unnamed government official reported five civilians were injured in the raid, while local residents claimed five civilians, including four children, were killed. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated that a man and four children were killed by a mortar shell fired by security forces during the operation.
