On 19 May 2020, an Afghan Air Force plane conducted an airstrike targeting wounded Taliban members in a vehicle just outside of a health clinic in Chahardara District, Kunduz Province, where other Taliban members were being treated. The airstrike killed at least two male civilians standing outside the clinic: the ambulance driver and someone who was at the clinic to donate blood. Two health workers were also slightly wounded but did not require medical treatment beyond first aid. Three rooms of the clinic, including the emergency room and guard room, as well as some walls were severely damaged. Many windows and the ambulance were damaged. According to sources, including members of the Afghan national security forces, the airstrike intentionally targeted wounded Taliban fighters (hors de combat) being brought to the clinic. Health services did not resume until 2 June.
