Remote-controlled IED placed inside the Al-Taqwa mosque detonated while over 700 people were gathered for Friday prayers. The explosives were placed under the podium where Mawlawi Rayhan, a well-known religious scholar was delivering the prayers. Rayhan and two other civilians were killed. 34 civilians were injured. Rayhan was an outspoken supporter of the Afghan National Security Forces and criticized the Taliban and ISIL-KP. UNAMA attributed this incident to the Taliban.
