In October 2022, the Taliban conducted a military operation in the Marka-e-Bihsud district (Hasa-Dowum Bihsud), in the context of targeting individuals alleged to be sympathizers and supporters of Abdul Ghani Alipur, a former leader of local resistance forces. The campaign led to significant property damage, arbitrary detention, loss of life, and the forced displacement of many residents, a majority of whom belong to the Hazara ethnic group.
