On June 20, 2016, a Taliban bomb detonated near the home of Mawlavi Attaullah Faizani, a member of the Kabul provincial council, as he was passing by in his vehicle. The explosion killed one Afghan civilian and wounded five people, including Faizani and three of his bodyguards. Police initially believed the bomb had been attached to the official's car. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack but disputed that Faizani was among the casualties.
