The Taliban arrested Abdul Hakim, the 75-year-old father of Ahmad Zarif Azad, the former commander of the popular uprising forces in Ghor province, and subjected him to torture.
“My father Abdul Hakim is 80 years old and the Taliban have arrested him five times. The Taliban demand weapons and money, forcing everyone to make false claims against us. Every day my family is harassed because I worked in the former government,” stated Mohammad Zarif Azad.
Mohammad Zarif Azad, a prominent commander of the popular uprising forces, was responsible for securing a section of the Ghor-Bamian highway for five years in the Dawlat Yar district of Ghor. In the last six months of now fall Republic, he served as an operative and operational officer of the National Security Directorate of Farah.
