- Summary
At least five Marines were wounded during a Taliban rocket attack on a military base in southern Afghanistan, according to three defense officials. The high number of casualties came a day after Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper visited the country. Two Afghans were also injured in the attack, according to a spokesman for Resolute Support. The rocket assault targeted the US military installation but also resulted in civilian casualties.
