Sayed Halim Agha, a member of the provincial council of Samangan Province, and his three colleagues were abducted in the Cheshma-e-Sher area of Baghlan Province by the highway connecting Balkh and Kabul, where they were traveling before Taliban forces stopped them. Agha was subsequently killed. The incident represents both an abduction and execution of a government official by insurgent forces.
