Narrative:
On August 7, 2015, a suicide Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) detonated in the Shah Shahid area of Kabul City. The explosion occurred in the middle of the night and resulted in the deaths of between 15 and 38 civilians while injuring approximately 400 others. The blast destroyed or damaged hundreds of homes in the residential area. There were no non-civilian casualties reported. The Taliban denied responsibility for the attack. Authorities suspected the explosion might have been a premature detonation due to the timing of the incident.
