On August 23, 2017, a Taliban suicide car bomb struck an Afghan National Army convoy in Lashkargah district. While the target appeared to be a parked convoy of soldiers, the explosion killed at least seven people, including two women, one child, and four soldiers. Another 38 people were wounded in the blast, with the majority being civilians. This attack demonstrates the civilian casualties that result when military targets are attacked in populated areas.
