Perpetrators

Summary: Two consecutive bombings took place in Mazar-e-Sharif, primarily affecting the Hazara and Shia minorities, leading to 10 fatalities and 15 injuries on April 28, 2022. Remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs) detonated on a bus in the Third and Tenth Districts of the city. The Taliban spokesperson said that the Shia passengers were the primary targets. Although no group had claimed responsibility for the attack, previously, ISIL-KP typically claimed responsibility for attacking Hazara and Shia civilians.
