- Summary
On February 9, 2022, Seyed Asif Hashemi, the head of the Faculty of Sharia at Ghazni University, was kidnapped and subsequently killed. The incident occurred while he was teaching at an orphanage in the Kolah Sabz area of Ghazni. His body was later handed over to his family by Taliban forces for burial.
Sources reported that Mr. Hashemi was abducted by armed individuals who identified themselves as Taliban forces. However, the Taliban security command in Ghazni province denied any involvement in his kidnapping and murder. Despite these denials, the Taliban authorities have remained silent regarding the investigation and pursuit of the perpetrators responsible for Mr. Hashemi’s death.
