Taliban forces launched an attack on Kunduz City, capturing four security outposts in different parts of the city during a 20-hour battle. The assault was repelled by combined American and Afghan air power supporting ground forces. Six civilians were killed and 41 civilians were wounded during the fighting, along with casualties among security forces including six police officers, four local police officers, one pro-government militia member, and three soldiers. A total of 88 people were wounded and taken to the regional hospital in Kunduz City. Local authorities reported that more than 20 Taliban fighters were killed and 20 others were wounded in the clashes and subsequent airstrikes.
