On 9 October 2015, four family members (a man, a woman, and two children) died when their motorcycle struck a pressure-plate IED planted by the Taliban to impede Afghan security forces movement around Qala area of Qala-I-Zal District, Kunduz Province. UNAMA received information that on the same day, other civilians traveling on the same road were stopped and warned by the Taliban not to proceed because of the IED threat.
