A remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the Taliban detonated inside a privately-owned pharmacy, wounding eight male civilians including a 13-year-old boy and a doctor from the district hospital. The Taliban had reportedly been threatening one of the pharmacy’s owners to pay the group a certain amount of money or be subject to an attack. In addition to the civilian casualties and harm to a healthcare worker, the pharmacy reportedly lost tens of thousands of dollars of medicine.
