On September 5, 2015, Taliban forces launched attacks against multiple Afghan security forces checkpoints in Chapa Dara District of Kunar Province. During the offensive, a Taliban-fired mortar struck a civilian home near the Chaparada District administration building. The impact killed five civilians—two girls, two boys, and one woman—and injured two other girls. The Taliban claimed responsibility for attacking nine checkpoints in Kunar Province, stating they had killed seventeen Afghan security forces personnel and injured nine others. However, they did not acknowledge the civilian casualties resulting from their mortar fire.
