On July 2, 2016, a suicide bomber attacked the residence of Haji Hayat, the leader of an anti-Taliban/Islamic State militia group in Jalalabad. The explosion killed at least two people and wounded dozens of others. Hayat himself was not injured in the attack. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing.
