Taliban suicide bombers attacked NGO Counterpart International. After the explosion, gunmen were able to gain entry to the building. Nobody from Counterpart International was killed, but Afghan police security officers stationed at the front gate were killed. The New York Times reported that Counterpart International is an American-run contractor. They also reported that 9 people were killed and 20 were wounded in the attack. Most of the victims were civilians, one was a police commando. Among the dead were three employees of the American aid group CARE, which has officed nearby.
