On 14 May 2020, the Taliban attacked a security outpost in the Maidan Hawai area of Dawlat Abad District, Balkh Province, killing two police officers and three soldiers after ambushing reinforcements. Four more security forces were wounded and three Humvees were destroyed. One civilian was killed in the crossfire while another, a teenager, was wounded.
