Taliban forces detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device near the entrance of the Ministry of Defense, causing widespread damage to surrounding houses, businesses, and schools. Two Taliban attackers established a firing position on the top floor of a nearby building, the ground floor of which housed a school with 300 students in class at the time of the attack. One boy and six civilian men were killed, with 144 civilians injured in the blast. Six surrounding schools were affected by the explosion, with classrooms damaged and educational materials destroyed. The attack resulted in significant casualties among children and civilians in the densely populated area.
