On September 19, 2017, Afghan Special Forces conducted an overnight operation with air force support in the Lalak and Zark areas of Khakrez and Ghorak districts. The operation killed 14 militants and three civilians, with eight rebels arrested during the raid. Forces also recovered 35 motorcycles and weapons. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that civilians including women and children suffered casualties during the operation.
