On January 30, 2022, Taliban intelligence operatives in Daykundi Province, Afghanistan, arrested a former collaborator of U.S. forces. Obaidullah Faizani, the head of Taliban intelligence in Daykundi, identified the detainee as "Haji Habib," a resident of the "Sarkiso" area in Kiti district.

Haji Habib was arrested while visiting Nili, the provincial capital of Daykundi, with his wife and children to obtain passports. According to his relatives, Haji Habib believed he was protected under the Taliban's general amnesty decree. The Taliban accused Haji Habib of maintaining ongoing connections with U.S. forces. Haji Habib stated that he had worked as a "guard" for U.S. forces in 2011 but had no subsequent affiliations with any foreign security or non-security organizations.
