On June 8, 2021, masked assailants stormed the Halo Trust, demining the organization's base in the village of Shaikh Jala, Baghlan-e-Markazi District. After beating and aligning every employee of the organization, they proceeded to separate and execute ten Hazara employees, while 16 others sustained injuries. The Halo Trust declared the assault a deliberate murder of its personnel. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant-Khorasan Province have taken responsibility for the attack.
