On July 21, 2017, at 2:00 AM, Taliban militants launched simultaneous attacks on the headquarters of Guzargahi Nur and Nahrin districts in northern Baghlan province. The Taliban stormed the district centers, with the ensuing clashes lasting until 5:00 AM. Local uprising forces arrived to reinforce government security forces during the fighting. An official at the provincial civil hospital, speaking anonymously, reported that they had received more than 90 casualties, including civilians, at the hospital during the preceding few days of violence.
