Incident Type: Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) suicide attack

Narrative:

On July 12, 2015, a suicide attacker detonated a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) targeting a Khost Protection Force checkpoint. The checkpoint was located near a bazaar outside Camp Chapman in Khost Matun district of Khost Province. The explosion killed twenty-eight civilians, including three women and twelve children, and injured nine others. The attack also resulted in significant damage to civilian property in the vicinity. Additionally, six Khost Protection Force members were killed and twelve others were wounded in the incident.
