On 16 October 2015, a Taliban-fired mortar struck the Kabul-Ghazni highway in Saydabad District, Maidan Wardak Province, killing two civilians and injuring nine others as they were traveling in buses along the highway. The Taliban issued a series of statements claiming to have closed the Kabul-Ghazni highway and engaging Afghan security forces, and blamed the incident on government forces. Local sources attributed the incident to the Taliban.
