The incident took place while a group of children was collecting firewood in the area. As a result of the explosion, two children were killed and three others were wounded. The unexploded ordnance was believed to be a remnant from previous conflicts, potentially dating back to clashes between Mujahideen groups and the former Soviet Army, or more recent conflicts between Taliban and government forces.
