- Summary of incident
On July 4, 2015, a pro-government armed group commander in Khan Abad District of Kunduz Province illegally detained and interrogated five civilian men. The detention occurred following an attack by Anti-Government Elements in the area. The commander held the men in an unauthorized detention facility where he beat them with a stick during interrogation, accusing them of failing to provide information about Anti-Government Elements movements in the area. Following reported intervention by a Member of Parliament, the commander released the men later the same day, warning them to leave the area.
