On September 28, 2017, an explosion occurred near Pamir Cinema at the western end of Maiwand Street in the Chendawol area of Kabul's old town, which has a significant Shia population. The blast killed three people, including two policemen, and injured 16 others. Responsibility for the attack was unconfirmed, though Daesh (ISIS) was suspected of carrying out this bombing in a predominantly Shia neighborhood.
