- Summary of incident
Elaha Dilawarzai's case is a distressing example of forced marriage and violence against women under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. According to her family, Dilawarzai was subjected to forced marriage, sexual violence, and beatings at the hands of Qari Saeed Khosty, a former spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of the Interior. She was forced to become the wife of a Taliban official and endured imprisonment for 156 days, during which she was reportedly beaten until she lost consciousness.
