- Summary of incident
From October 17-19, 2017, the Taliban launched four coordinated complex attacks across the country using Humvees rigged as suicide bombs. The attacks killed more than 100 people, including both Afghan National Defence and Security Forces personnel and civilians. These incidents demonstrated a growing Taliban strategy of targeting Afghan security force bases rather than district centers, aimed at inflicting heavy casualties, weakening morale, and capturing military equipment.
