On May 19, 2017, a pressure-plate improvised explosive device (PPIED) detonated in Mohammad Agha district, killing 11 civilians and injuring three children. The victims included four children, six women, and one man. This incident demonstrates the indiscriminate nature of pressure-activated devices that detonate when triggered by any passing person or vehicle, causing severe civilian casualties.
