Narrative:

In July 2015, Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander Abdul Samad and his subordinates detained several groups of elders in Nawa Sultan Mohammad, Khas Uruzgan district of Uruzgan Province. The ALP forces forcibly cut the elders' beards, an act considered a deliberate insult reportedly intended to punish the men for alleged cooperation with the Taliban. Some of the elders were also physically assaulted. The community was reportedly coerced into paying a fine of 1,400,000 Pakistani rupees (approximately 13,500 USD). Reports also emerged of ALP personnel entering private residences and committing acts described locally as "bi namusi" (dishonor, a term often used to reference sexual assault). According to reports, a teenage girl from the Melizai tribe was forcibly removed from her home and taken to the ALP post in Dehan-e Sangu, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed. As a result of these incidents, numerous families fled the area and established temporary shelter in tents near Ab Paran, primarily due to fears of further sexual violence.
