On Friday, January 6, 2017, at least 13 coal miners were killed and three others injured in an attack by militants in the northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan. The incident occurred around 2:30 pm in the Tala-wa-Barfak district. Official and local sources attributed the attack to an armed group affiliated with ISIL-KP. The victims, all belonging to the Hazara ethnic group, were traveling from Baghlan to Daikondi province via Bamyan when their minibus was attacked in the Anardara village of the district.
