On February 7, 2017, a suicide attacker detonated an explosive device outside the Supreme Court in Kabul. The attack killed at least 21 people, the majority of whom were female employees of the Court, and injured more than 40 others. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for this targeted attack against judicial personnel.
