An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated outside the Population ID and Distribution Department branch in the Bist-Metra region Dash-e-Barchi on August 13, 2022. An explosion resulted in the deaths of at least 3 civilians and injured another 4 individuals, including two Taliban fighters, while a group of people were gathered to obtain their e-ID cards. So far, no individual or organization has admitted to carrying out the attack. Nonetheless, most attacks on the Hazara ethnic group and Shia community are believed to be carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant-Khorasan Province (ISIL-KP).
