The explosion occurred in the Mahtab Qala district of Dasht-e-Barchi due to a sticky bomb put beneath a minibus. The victim is named Hamid Saighani, a journalist employed by Ariana Television Cable. The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that the group specifically aimed after “Shia and Hazara rafida (rejectors).”
