- Summary of incident
In September 2015, more than 600 families in Achin District, Nangarhar Province, were displaced due to ISIS-K violence and threats to leave their houses. The fighters allegedly occupied their homes, and those who did not leave were forced to pay money to ISIS-K. Due to the violence, six schools were closed in the Mamond and Abdulkhel areas of Achin, and some health facilities also had to close. ISIS-K was also recruiting child soldiers and forcing marriages on young women and girls, along with executing hundreds of people including civilians in clashes with the Taliban.
