On June 28, 2015, Anti-Government Elements abducted six civilians in Gardez District of Paktia Province. The group included five villagers and one volunteer for a humanitarian organization. The Anti-Government Elements subsequently released the five villagers but continued to hold the humanitarian volunteer. On June 30, 2015, staff of a humanitarian organization recovered the volunteer's body. Multiple sources reported that the victim's arms and legs had been broken before he was shot to death.
