Location: Dahmarda area, Jaghori District, Ghazni Province and Shah Joy District, Zabul Province, Afghanistan

Incident Summary:
On April 6, 2022, three brothers from the Dahmarda area of Jaghori District, Ghazni Province, were kidnapped while collecting fodder in the mountains. The abduction was carried out by local Pashtuns from the Dara-e-Arghendab area of Zabul Province, specifically by the sons of a man named Shirdel. The kidnapping appears to be an act of revenge stemming from a previous incident. Shirdel had been killed in 2015, and his sons were seeking blood money for their father's death. The connection between the victims and Shirdel's death is unclear from the available information. The three brothers were forcibly taken to Shah Joy District in Zabul Province. They were held captive for 14 days and nights, during which time they were subjected to physical abuse by their captors. The victims were reportedly beaten by the kidnappers themselves.
