On March 4, 2021, a group of unidentified gunmen infiltrated a plaster factory in the Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar province. Tragically, they killed at least seven Hazara laborers during a late-night attack. Officials in Nangarhar have asserted that the laborers were explicitly targeted due to their ethnic and religious affiliations. While accusations have been leveled against both the Taliban and ISIL-KP for sectarian killings, no group or individual has officially claimed responsibility for this targeted act of violence.
